I've been through this myself, and it never made a difference how polite I was, how excellent my work was, how many victories I racked up, or how much the clients or even the opposing attorneys respected me. The mere fact that I hold the beliefs I do was enough to poison the office waters. "Tolerance" is a joke, except to the extent that I and others like me are the ones who actually practice it in our daily lives. We don't attack people, shun them, or plot their demise simply because we dislike their beliefs. We are secure; they are not, and their insecurity drives them to hate.
