Donald Sterling's Mortal Sin

Also thoughtcrime. For making remarks in the supposed privacy of his own home (to his vacuous and vindictive arm candy), Donald Sterling is to be scourged. This should send a chill down your spine, for I challenge you to volunteer in public any number of offensive or politically-incorrect remarks that you have made in private. Apparently, uttering forbidden notions is so grave that even the nominal President of the United States makes it his business. Thus spake Obama:
“When ignorant folks want to advertise their ignorance, you don’t really have to do anything. You just let them talk.”
Yet Sterling advertised nothing. He spoke in supposed confidence and was recorded without his knowledge or consent, a crime under California law.

Outstripping Obama, local politicians are proposing a measure to demand a public apology from Sterling for his private remarks, claiming that those remarks violate human-rights laws. Yet the only person whose rights were violated is Sterling.

So now we must watch what we say and to whom we say it, for anyone might inform on us and have us hauled off to the Ministry Of Love for prompt re-education. The fun part about inhabiting such an insane society is that I don't have to worry about trying to save it; it will have to hit rock bottom or fracture into multiple pieces before any redemption can take place.
