On Leftist Witchhunts In General

Vox lays it down. I've been through this myself, and it never made a difference how polite I was, how excellent my work was, how many victories I racked up, or how much the clients or even the opposing attorneys respected me. The mere fact that I hold the beliefs I do was enough to poison the office waters. "Tolerance" is a joke, except to the extent that I and others like me are the ones who actually practice it in our daily lives. We don't attack people, shun them, or plot their demise simply because we dislike their beliefs. We are secure; they are not, and their insecurity drives them to hate.

Donald Sterling's Mortal Sin

Also thoughtcrime. For making remarks in the supposed privacy of his own home (to his vacuous and vindictive arm candy), Donald Sterling is to be scourged. This should send a chill down your spine, for I challenge you to volunteer in public any number of offensive or politically-incorrect remarks that you have made in private. Apparently, uttering forbidden notions is so grave that even the nominal President of the United States makes it his business. Thus spake Obama:
“When ignorant folks want to advertise their ignorance, you don’t really have to do anything. You just let them talk.”
Yet Sterling advertised nothing. He spoke in supposed confidence and was recorded without his knowledge or consent, a crime under California law.

Outstripping Obama, local politicians are proposing a measure to demand a public apology from Sterling for his private remarks, claiming that those remarks violate human-rights laws. Yet the only person whose rights were violated is Sterling.

So now we must watch what we say and to whom we say it, for anyone might inform on us and have us hauled off to the Ministry Of Love for prompt re-education. The fun part about inhabiting such an insane society is that I don't have to worry about trying to save it; it will have to hit rock bottom or fracture into multiple pieces before any redemption can take place.

Cliven Bundy's Mortal Sin

Thoughtcrime. Whereas defying the federal government makes you a folk hero, defying the PC script makes you an arch-criminal. It makes no difference that Bundy wasn't praising slavery (he was condemning modern times as even worse than slavery for African-Americans); all that matters is that Bundy expressed a belief at odds with the cartoonish, guilt-ridden narrative that we're all supposed to carry around with us like Mao's little red book. The past is evil. The present and future are glorious, especially under the leadership of visionaries such as Barack Obama, etc., etc.

No matter, because however much the media tar and feather this man, the important point has been made: growing numbers of people are willing to link arms and resist the federal government when it crosses the line, which is a true lesson from American history that politicians would do well to remember.

I Knew There Was A Reason I Liked Vladimir Putin

Pat Buchanan breaks it down, explaining that Putin sees himself as standing athwart a decadent and neo-pagan West. While Putin is no saint, his mission is admirable. An excerpt:
Putin is plugging into some of the modern world's most powerful currents.

Not only in his defiance of what much of the world sees as America's arrogant drive for global hegemony. Not only in his tribal defense of lost Russians left behind when the USSR disintegrated.

He is also tapping into the worldwide revulsion of and resistance to the sewage of a hedonistic secular and social revolution coming out of the West.

In the culture war for the future of mankind, Putin is planting Russia's flag firmly on the side of traditional Christianity. His recent speeches carry echoes of John Paul II whose Evangelium Vitae in 1995 excoriated the West for its embrace of a "culture of death."

What did Pope John Paul mean by moral crimes?

The West's capitulation to a sexual revolution of easy divorce, rampant promiscuity, pornography, homosexuality, feminism, abortion, same-sex marriage, euthanasia, assisted suicide — the displacement of Christian values by Hollywood values.
