Riots Simply Make Visible What Was Already There

A great deal of shock and outrage surrounds the riots and "flash mobs" in places such as London, Philadelphia, and Chicago, which I find rich indeed. The physical vandalism on display is nothing more than a continuation of the spiritual and ideational vandalism that has raged across the West for a long time now. As materialists who have lost all sense of spirit and ideals, modern Westerners react only now that the destruction has manifested itself in a way they can comprehend. But people like me have felt shock and outrage all our lives -- we knew how precious Western civilization was, yet we had to bear witness to its systematic destruction by the spoiled brats who regard the fruits of prosperity as a "right" to be re-distributed through government action, and who declared war on every virtue and social custom that generates prosperity in the first place. The politicians sitting in their plush offices have no business chastising the vandals roaming the streets, for they are blood brothers.

So welcome to my world. As this overt violence proliferates and replaces the genteel, antiseptic violence you all welcomed into your lives, you will finally get to experience the grief that I have endured.
